The scheme aims to recognize players and coaches from Uttarakhand who have achieved remarkable success at the national and international levels in sports by awarding them the Khel Ratna, Himalaya Ratna, and Dronacharya Awards.

Under this scheme, in recognition of the remarkable success achieved by players and coaches of the state at the national and international levels, the following awards are conferred: Khel Ratna (1 player – Rs. 5.00 lakh), Himalaya Ratna (6 players – Rs. 1.00 lakh per player), and Dronacharya Award (2 coaches – Rs. 3.00 lakh per coach).
